Mostly known for mountains, rivers, and mining, West Virginia has some of the best white water rafting in the country. I only visited a tiny portion of West Virginia, which is probably not very representative of the state as a whole, but the place I did visit was worth the write up.

The main attraction here is the white water rafting. There are several companies in the area to arrange your booking. Also check out the national park which has a few hiking trails and beautiful views of the river.
See & Do
- White Water Rafting. Check online or ask around for companies. Allow yourself at least half a day, if not a full day.
- Harper’s Ferry National Park. Hiking trails and historic town.
- Dinosaur Land. I randomly stumbled upon this on my way out of town towards Shenandoah. Life size models of dinosaurs, King Kong, an octopus, and others.
