Vermont

Small but mighty, Vermont is renowned for its skiing. I only explored the northern parts around Stowe and Burlington, but what I visited was great. The mountain forests are magnificent, especially in the fall when the leaves change color, and there is a plethora of outdoor activities sprawling from these cities.

A popular ski destination, the small charming town of Stowe has cute shops and restaurants along its Main Street while also surrounded by exciting day trips to mountain hikes, waterfalls, and skiing. Smuggler’s Notch State Park is a must visit along with the headquarters for Ben & Jerry’s, most notably the graveyard of hilarious retired ice cream flavors. Also along route 100, you’ll find places like Vermont Flannel Co., Cold Hollow Cider Mill, Vermont Artisan Coffee & Tea. North along highway 108 there are several butchers, seafood markets, and breweries, most notably The Alchemist and von Trapp. The Roastery is also a neat little coffee shop owned by a nomadic YouTuber family from the area.

This relaxed hipster city situated along Lake Chaplain is a hidden gem. Friendly people, progressive vibe, cool little downtown full of interesting shops and restaurants. Great for an afternoon or couple of days. A few notables around central downtown include Burlington Earth Clock, City Market Co-op, Barge Canal Market, Soda Plant, Lake Champlain Chocolates, several vintage stores scattered around, Crow Bookshop, and Waterfront Park.
